Song of the week (number 29)

Posted on

This song is great. I only heard it a couple of days ago and already think it’s great. Admittedly, I don’t know much about the singer, he’s called Hsie He-hsian apparently (or A Chord or R.Chord ???) and comes from Nantou in Taiwan. The song is possibly called So Grow Up, but I’m not sure about that (if you can read Mandarin, please let me know). Anyway, this song is great.

I was struggling a little thinking of what song to share this week. Having been slightly obsessed with Korean pop music recently, I felt that it was a time for a change in tune. Flicking through my YouTube favourites list I came across a song called Hãy Về Đây Bên Anh by the Vietnamese singer Duy Mạnh. Here it is.

I featured some Korean songs on this blog not long ago. However, at some point I just had to find space for this awesome music video by Korean group After School. As a special treat for all you dear readers (listeners/watchers?), I have included three versions of this super cool song. The first is the original, the second is a remix, the third is the male version (surprisingly created simply by altering the voices of the seven girls). This is Because of You… enjoy!

I have been watching old episodes of Trigger Happy TV recently. For those of you that have never seen it, it’s an often dark and poignant take on the hidden camera comedy genre. In line with its mood, the show eschews a laugh track, instead playing sombre music. ‘Speak To Me Someone’ by ‘Gene’ is one of the songs used.

While I was thinking of what song to feature this week, Patrick Stacey sent me a demo of a song called Come live with me he is working on. This is the same guy whose music video I featured in a few months ago. If you have any feedback, leave a comment for him on YouTube.

After all the excitement of the Korean songs I featured last month, we are back to the regular (anything goes) Song of the week. This week features a song I have been aching to share for ages. Here is The Curse, an exceedingly haunting song by Josh Ritter.

Song of the week (number 23)

My final Korean song of the week has the same name as the first, Haru Haru (Day By Day). Both songs are however completely different. This one is by the duo Tashannie.

The third of my Korean songs of the week was suggested to me by a friend of mine. The song is called That Man by Hyun Bin and is from the Korean drama Secret Garden.

Continuing with my Korean theme, here is 2NE1 with I Don’t Care.

Song of the week (number 20)

For my songs of the week this month, I thought it would be nice to do something a bit special. Therefore, the next four songs of the week will all be Korean. The reason for this is that I like Korean pop music and wanted to share some of the infectious music that comes out of the country. The first Korean song I have chosen is called ‘Haru Haru (Day By Day)’ by ‘Big Bang’.
